Shortly after the birth of my daughter, I struggled. The physical, emotional, hormonal and social transition in becoming a mother was jarring. I fell into postpartum depression and went through the darkest days of my life. At the same time, I had this perfect baby that I loved beyond words. I was so confused. I was unprepared and wished that there was more conversation happening around this subject. I wanted to be connected to others with similar stories to help me get through it all. So I made Becoming, a short film about the first year of motherhood. I made this so that people experiencing what I did could connect and not feel so alone.
