Hers

A chance encounter between two women in one small space leads to more than they bargained for after they both try to escape a house party to the “best place in the whole house”.

‘Hers’ is the first film Alexa Morden has written and produced and was awarded an Honourable Mention for Best Women Short at the Independent Shorts Awards in LA.

Inspired by female friendship, the rise of fantastic female writer/actors on screen and conversations with a new friend, I decided to write my own short film during a “dry spell” of acting work for said friend and me to act in! I had no money but luckily did have a group of brilliant, supportive and collaborative filmmakers that I’ve met during my time in acting jobs. So to make the film as feasible as possible to actually make I knew I had to keep the setting to one location and the cast/crew minimal. Combining that with my desire to show women in a natural and authentic way the instant idea was to set it in a bathroom because a whole load of interactions can go down in there!! And so; ‘Hers’ was born.
