The story behind the film
Dating during the COVID-19 pandemic was complicated... to say the least.
In the summer of 2020, MaryKathryn and Kiarra were commiserating over FaceTime one day about their most recent attempts at virtual dating when they had the idea for It’s Not You, It’s Her. Wouldn’t it be so much easier to navigate this weird time of online romance if a third party could intervene and help cut ties with someone before you had too many wine nights over Zoom? What if you were suddenly living with your new partner? Or even worse – what if your FWB insisted on quarantining with you?
With this idea and the strong desire to create something, MaryKathryn and Kiarra worked together to write and produce the film – all over FaceTime!
Lizzie, John, and Alex drove from NYC to Nashville to be on location with MaryKathryn and the small local crew. All other actors tuned in remotely, and thus, an ultra-low budget quarantine film was created.
