CHIAMARE CASA SEMPRE LO STESSO POSTO
HER (13), gives the first clumsy tongue kiss to HIM (17), who she really likes. A group of HIM’s and HER friends attend goliardically. Gio, HIM’s best friend, teases HIM. In the evening they all hang out in the town park, HER sees HIM hugging another girl. Gio tells HER that happened because HIM said that HER is a lousy kisser. Gio wants to check if it’s true. In front of everyone, he pushes her to kiss. Gio bursts out laughing. Yes, she does kiss like crap.
Gio is one of the five guys crammed into a stolen car. They are going to the next town to party. Suddenly… CRASH.
The boys are lying near the overturned car, alive but seriously injured. Gio is the only one who doesn’t look injured.
A passing car stops and a small family try to figure out if the boys are alive—all except Gio, who they don’t seem to see. They walk past him, as if he is not there, as if he were a ghost.
He is. Dead.
Time later, HER is on the bus, when suddenly, someone sits next to her.
It’s Gio. There is a huge awkwardness between the two. HER tries to ignore him at first. A mixture of wanting to run away from it, and straining to hold the position to prove that one is different that one is grown up.
He tries hard to make contact with her, but he cannot. And HER cannot forgive him.

The story behind the film
The most painful part of growing up is discovering how vulnerable caring for someone can make us.
In our teenage, we discover our drives and loves and how fragile they make us. Not knowing what the other person is thinking creates abysses of insecurity and unacceptable weakness.
It is the age of the first intimate wounds, in a deep emotional illiteracy.
As a guy, you think the only way is to hide in your virile masculinity to show superiority over the feminine world that makes them so fragile. As a girl, the weight of young men’s judgment is enormous. And in a small suburban reality, the worst thing that can happen to you is to be stigmatized forever.
As a writer and director from these isolated areas of northern Italy, I witnessed these dynamics in first person, the first chapter “happened” to me when I was 12, and yet, I see these dynamics happening again daily in the new generations.
This project will be shot in the areas of the origin of this story, with actors and local non-actors of that age, hoping that working around these themes will give the younger generations a better way of understanding relationships.
