The story behind the film

The film all happened quite naturally. Greg and I went to school together at St Francis de Sales, and the fair was always something huge for all the students.
Now I see how big it is for the entire community. It is a really fun event and really beautiful in it’s own way. So many people have worked for so many years to put on the show. From fireworks to selling confetti eggs, it’s all run by a handful of people in the community, and some really talented folks have helped out over the years.

Toto, Billy Idol, and Dave Navarro have all performed there. This particular year, Sugar Ray headlined, and Greg called me up in a frenzy — his hero was playing the fair. It’s an understatement to say how big of a deal it was to be on the same bill for him. Hearing his enthusiasm, I knew I had to capture it. So I asked him if he’d be okay with me following him for awhile for a documentary.

We spent months doing photography traveling all over the world as Greg prepared for the show of his lifetime.
But it was really only the 5ish hours or so before the show that were interesting to me. So we boiled that down to 5ish minutes for your viewing pleasure.
