Mars

Leon is forced to confront his sexuality when he meets his favourite queer author, Martin McAllen, whilst surrounded by the toxic masculinity of his homophobic colleagues.

Mars is about the masks we wear on a daily basis, the courage it takes in being true to ourselves and the power we give to others when we fail to accept who we really are. The film also touches on class dynamics, homophobia, the problematic nature of an ingrained heteronormative agenda and the smaller manifestations of toxic masculinity that young men still regularly deal with in the UK, especially in more rural areas.
